  1. I once read a logic textbook that introduced the concept of identity with reference to “Bob Dylan” “Robert Zimmerman” and whoever his character was in “Don’t Look Back.” If only the author could have added “Billy the Kid.”

    Jake Plummer: tragic figure for the new century? It’s bad enough to lose; it’s worse to lose and then hear that you lost because, well, Jake Plummer just has to be Jake Plummer.

  2. it’s no fun to be jake plummer, i have to agree. being told that you are basically just proof of aristotle’s poetics or whatever probably isn’t that fun, esp when it explains why you fundamentally can never actually be successful at work. still, the only way he can truly win is by becoming someone else, i think. maybe just change his name to joe germaine.
